Operations Specialist - Troy, MI
Pay Rate Range - $20.00-24.00/hr
This is an on-going contract position with Kelly OCG (Outsource Consulting Group). You will receive full benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, Paid vacation, Holidays, sick time, and 401k, etc.
This position will be responsible for the execution and oversight of projects related to the purchasing of construction items for multiple, concurrent projects across the U.S. The Purchasing Specialist reports to the Operations Manager and will support the broader Supply Chain organization with its reporting and savings analysis needs.
This position requires heavy organizational, as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills to work in a cross-functional environment. Attention to detail and the ability to work under a time sensitive environment is a must. This position will work closely with its management as well as key internal customers in Design and Development, and Regional Development Teams, as well as external stakeholders including suppliers and General Contractors.
Responsible for the Requisition to PO activities associated with key materials for our client s construction spend
Manage the scheduling and shipments of materials to our clients job sites
Interact with field customers to understand and finalize each construction project s buy-out requirements and schedule including specific purchasing needs and timeline
Work with suppliers and general contractors to communicate and follow-up on requirements and commitments
Review supplier quotations and construction drawings to ensure accuracy and appropriateness and resolve any discrepancies (escalate if needed)
Manage suppliers to ensure agreed upon requirements are met including delivery of products/services to construction sites and warrantees
Coordinate with field customers to troubleshoot and make decisions as needed related to discrepancies or issues as they arise
Ensure purchase orders are created and invoices are handled appropriately including all necessary authorizations
Communicate status and issues proactively to field customers and external stakeholders to ensure alignment across groups
Proactively identify opportunities for improvement in processes and procedures
Attention to detail
Ability to work methodically and precisely through tasks to accomplish goals
Strong documentation skills including ability to use Excel and other quantitative analysis tools
Strong written and verbal communication
Critical thinking and ability to solve problems
Ability to quickly establish personal credibility
Knowledge of construction materials and how they interact with build cycles
Project management skills including understanding how to plan work in reasonable time frame and break tasks into achievable sub-tasks
Familiarity with Ariba and Oracle Qualifications
Bachelor s Degree in Business, Construction Management, Project Management, Purchasing, Supply Chain, or related field / equivalent experience required.
1 - 4 years experience in purchasing, order management, project management or construction environment, or experience in related functions.
